LEGOs

LEGOs. For the past two days, the kids have had all the LEGOs out in my little guy’s room building all sorts of things. It’s been a LEGO minefield trying to get from one side of the room to the other. They’ve built all different items but set out yesterday in building a house. By the end of the night they had themselves a nice house built from the LEGOs. Of course there was some arguing along the way on how to go about building it, but when it was all said and done, they made a very nice house that they are still playing with tonight.

Luckily, my daughter has some understanding that my son has yet to figure out. He wanted to build the bottom smaller than he wanted to build the top. Of course, that’s going to lead to a house that is not going to be very sturdy. My daughter understands that for the house to be built correctly it has to have a bigger and stronger base than the top of the house. It made me think of the teachings of Jesus on building a house.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." - Matthew 7:24-27.

When we build our house upon the Rock of God, the foundation is sturdy and can withstand any storm that may come, just like the house my daughter made out of the LEGOs. However, when we build our house on the sand of this world, when storms come the house falls because the foundation is not built on God and His Word, just like the house my son wanted to build.

What foundation have you built your life on?  Have you designed and built it upon the promises of God found in the Bible or have you built it on the sand that this world wants you to believe in?  Storms will come and your faith will be tested, but God is faithful to those who build upon Him.

Have a great day and God bless.
