So, we know that the first thing that God wills for our lives is to be holy. We saw that in 1 Thessalonians yesterday. Today we’ll look at the second will God has for us as Christians. It’s not as obvious as yesterday’s was, but we will see it pretty clearly once we dive into it.
The second thing that God wills for our lives as Christians is to witness in our world. We find it in 2 Peter 3:9 - “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” Now just looking at that from the outside, one would question how that is God’s will for the Christian life.
You would ask, “if He wishes that no one should perish and all would repent and come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, doesn’t that happens before we are Christians?” You are correct! But God wants us to be a witness in our world so that we can share the Gospel and others can come to that same saving knowledge. That is God’s will for our lives: that we would share the Good News with others so that they too may be saved.
The Apostle Paul said it best, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" - Romans 10:14-15.
Has anyone ever told you that you have beautiful feet? You do if you preach the Good News of Jesus Christ! That is God’s will for you; to witness to your world about what Jesus Christ has done for you.
Have a great day and God bless.
