Vacation Bible School. That week during the summer when churches have VBS for all the children in the church and the surrounding community. There are themed Bible lessons, arts and crafts, singing, games and snacks. It is usually a big event at each church that takes weeks of preparation and draws dozens of children anxious to learn about God. I never got to experience VBS growing up but our kids have had the opportunity every year and I appreciate the opportunity that they have.
Our children being able to learn about the truth of God’s Word is of the utmost importance, especially in today’s society that is becoming more and more anti-truth and anti-God. A moral foundation being established with children at a young age, that continues throughout their upbringing, is so important. Our church does a wonderful job with educating the youth.
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” - Deuteronomy 6:4-7.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” - Proverbs 22:6. Our duty as parents is to teach our children the Truth of God’s Word so that they are exposed to the commandments, love and grace of God. It is said that children’s minds are shaped at a very young age. As parents, we are responsible for the shaping of those young minds. If we don’t do it, the world will.
“And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” - Matthew 18:2-6. Jesus showed us the importance of our children. Are you training up your children to love the Lord?
Have a great day and God bless.
