The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead. Anyone out there fans of the show?  I’ve never seen a single episode even though it ran for nine seasons. I’ve also never seen a single episode of Game of Thrones either. I have lived vicariously through the information of others for both of those shows, so I do have a general understanding of what both shows were about. I’m not a big fan of either of those genres, so it doesn’t attract me to watch, even though millions of people love them.

My understanding is that the show The Walking Dead is based upon a group of people fighting for their survival against an ever growing population of zombies. They work together as a team to make sure that they survive the zombie apocalypse and one-by-one, their team gets smaller and smaller because of loses to the other side. I think that is an overall recap of the storyline.

I have always heard that art imitates life and would have to say that this show imitates what spiritual life in this current world looks like. As the tide sways from this country being considered a Christian nation to it now becoming more secular, the number of Christians is growing smaller as the number of non-Christians is growing larger. In a nutshell, the spiritually dead is outnumbering those that are alive spiritually.

Before we became Christians, we too, were once spiritually dead, “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience- among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” - Ephesians 2:1-3. We were counted among the Walking Dead.

If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, you are no longer dead, but alive in Christ. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” - Ephesians 2:4-7.

Has there been a specific moment in time when God “butted” into your life? A time that you can put your finger on and say, you went from being spiritually dead to alive in Christ?  If not, let today be the day that you leave the Walking Dead and move into life with Christ.

Have a great day and God bless.
