Ungrateful. I’ve noticed lately that there are many people that are ungrateful for the many things that this country has provided to them. Most of the people that are coming across as being ungrateful seem to be the same people that have gained the most by living in this great country. I’m not blind to the fact that there are issues within our country and things that can be improved, but I also realize we live in a country made up of people from many different backgrounds and philosophies and there will never be a time when everyone feels that things are perfect because we live in a fallen world.
As Christians, we should be grateful for the things in our lives no matter what situation we may be in. God has provided us with so much, most of all, the gift of His Son and the forgiveness of our sins. We can’t get caught up in the things of this world and comparing what we have and don’t have with others around us. All of these material things are going to go away or become the possession of someone else at some point. Our treasures are laid up for us in heaven.
It’s easy to get caught up in the complaining and ungratefulness of others, but we need to remind ourselves, probably daily, of what we are grateful for: our health, our loved ones, a roof over our heads, food on our tables, etc. God has so richly blesses us with eternal things that the earthly things in this life should be viewed as minuscule.
“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” - Hebrews 12:28-29. Have you thanked God with a grateful heart today for His blessings on you?
Have a great day and God bless.
