Children. The Bible tells us that children are a blessing to their parents. I have to fully agree with that statement. As our family gets to celebrate the eleventh birthday of our oldest child, it gives us the opportunity to really look back at how much God has blessed us as a family and our daughter in general.
It’s so wonderful to watch our children grow and their personalities really develop from year to year. We look at our daughter and see so much of ourselves in her actions and demeanor. She really is a collection of both my wife and myself, but she leans heavily to the traits of my wife. As she grows, so does our relationship with her. Our conversations are deeper, our expectations of her grow, and our excitement for her future increases.
All of these things are blessings from God that He chose us to be her parents. We have a great responsibility in making sure that she grows in her relationship with Jesus Christ more than any other aspect of her life. If we can continue to point her towards God and His will for her life, all other things will fall into place according to His plan.
“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.” - Deuteronomy 11:18-21.
Have a great day and God bless.
