Limited time offer. As I was sitting in the airport yesterday waiting for the last leg of my journey, the flight a couple of gates over was overbooked. The lady working the desk kept making offers for travel vouchers to anyone who would wait for the next flight to the same location. She started out at $250 for anyone who would give up their seat on the flight and the offers kept going up from there every 15 minutes or so. I think that the last offer I heard was at $750 to anyone willing to give up their seat.
As with most things, it was a limited time offer because that flight was going to have to push back from the gate at the scheduled time. The opportunity was going to pass and when it came right down to it, if no one took the offer, people were going to be removed from the flight and have nothing to show for it. I don’t know if anyone was kicked off the flight or the limited time offer was accepted by someone or not. I do know the flight left and there were no shouting matches at the gate when it left.
Eternal life in the presence of God has a limited time offer as well. We are given this life to make the choice to either accept Christ as our Savior or to reject the free gift of salvation. No one gets a second chance after they die, the decision has been made and no one can pray you into heaven after you’re dead. The Bible says, “For he says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” - 2 Corinthians 6:2.
“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.” - Romans 13:11.
“For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10.
This life has a limited time offer in place for securing our eternal destination. We choose to spend it in heaven or in hell by what we do with the free gift of salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Have a great day and God bless.
